Two internet industry veterans. A business trip to Germany. And the realization that Americans were getting ripped off. This is how FindBetterInternet.com was born.

Here’s the thing about internet comparison sites: they’re mostly garbage. And we can say that because we helped make the sausage of some of them.
We spent years working at some of the largest digital marketing companies in the world. If you’ve ever searched for “best internet provider” or “internet deals near me,” you’ve probably landed on one of the properties we worked on. It wasn’t always nefarious, but it was often lazy. We watched satellite internet get placed right next to fiber like they’re even remotely comparable. We saw rankings shift not because a service got better, but because the commission structure changed.
The dirty secret of internet comparison? Most sites rank providers by who pays them the most, not who actually provides the best service. That three-star rating? Meaningless. That “Editor’s Pick” badge? Bought and paid for.

So there we were in Munich, maybe one too many beers in, complaining about how frustrating it is that Americans can’t get straight answers about their internet options. Germans were getting faster speeds at lower prices. And U.S. consumers were stuck wading through affiliate-driven clickbait just to figure out what’s available at their address.
That’s when we decided: if we know how broken the system is, we’re probably the right people to fix it.

Austin Shrum

Austin spent years in the trenches of digital marketing, where he got a front-row seat to how comparison sites really work. He’s the kind of person who has had ideas for years that never got built, but now he’s building them.
When he’s not building tools to help people find better internet, he’s probably annoying friends with unsolicited opinions about their WiFi setup. Fair warning: he will judge your router placement.
Ali Yazdi
Co-founder, A2 Analytics
Ali brings the analytical firepower to the operation. He spent years building & analyzing the data systems both for financial services companies and internet comparison sites. He knows exactly how those “personalized recommendations” get made—and why they often don’t have your best interests at heart.
Ali’s the one who figured out how to turn FCC broadband data into something actually useful for regular people. He’s less likely to judge your router, but he will silently run a speed test at your house.

Where does your data come from?
Our primary data source is the FCC’s National Broadband Map, which launched in 2022. Internet providers are legally required to report accurate information about where they offer service and at what speeds. We supplement this with additional research and user feedback to give you the most complete picture possible.
Are you affiliated with any internet providers?
No. We don’t have ownership stakes in any internet providers, and no provider has any ownership or editorial control over FindBetterInternet.com. We’re completely independent, which is exactly how we intend to stay.
