The 30-Second Verdict
Arlington has excellent internet infrastructure with AT&T fiber reaching 97.5% of the city as the dominant provider, offering blazing 5-gig speeds that are perfect for University of Texas at Arlington students who need reliable connections for classes and streaming. Spectrum’s cable network covers 92.4% as a solid alternative with gig speeds. In neighborhoods like Meadowbrook (76010) and central Arlington (76001, 76002, 76003), AT&T fiber dominates most addresses, while areas like 76011 and 76004 see more mixed coverage between AT&T and Spectrum. If you’re house-hunting near campus, always confirm your specific address has fiber—some older buildings might still be on slower copper lines. Rural residents on Arlington’s outskirts finally have Starlink as an excellent high-speed option where wired services don’t reach.

THE TAKEAWAY
Our recommendation for Arlington
If you can get AT&T Fiber at your address, it’s an excellent choice and the top-rated option in Arlington, with their 5 Gbps plan scoring 98/100 and available to 64% of the city. However, if you’re limited to their copper DSL service (scoring 29-46/100) or basic fixed wireless, you should strongly consider checking other providers first, as these technologies offer significantly limited performance compared to modern fiber alternatives. AT&T’s fiber leads the Arlington market, but their non-fiber services fall well below the city’s average top speed score of 69.
About AT&T
AT&T covers nearly all of Arlington (97.5%), but your experience will vary dramatically by address. If you’re in the 64% of areas with fiber access, you’ll get excellent 5 Gbps speeds (top-tier in the state with a 98/100 speed score), but many other areas are stuck with slower copper DSL or fixed wireless options that score below average and may struggle with modern streaming and video calls. Definitely check if fiber is available at your specific address first—if not, you’ll want to compare AT&T’s slower options against other providers in your area.

THE TAKEAWAY
Our recommendation for Arlington
Spectrum’s cable service covers 92% of Arlington and delivers a solid 1000 Mbps option with a speed score of 88, making it a reliable choice for most households. However, with AT&T offering superior fiber service (score: 98) in many areas, it’s worth checking if AT&T is available at your address first. A tiny fraction of Arlington has access to Spectrum’s fiber network (1.4% coverage), which performs comparably to their cable service but isn’t widely available enough to be a primary consideration.
About Spectrum
Spectrum is an excellent choice for most Arlington residents, with cable internet offering 1000 Mbps download speeds available to over 90% of the area—earning a strong speed score of 88/100 that places it in the top tier of options in the state. The vast majority of addresses will have access to these high-speed cable plans, which are more than sufficient for streaming, gaming, working from home, and all modern internet needs. A small portion of the coverage area also has fiber available, which offers slightly better performance, but the cable option is already excellent.

THE TAKEAWAY
Our recommendation for Arlington
Verizon’s fixed wireless service in Arlington falls short of what’s available from competitors, with their best plan scoring 78/100 compared to AT&T’s fiber at 98/100. While their 1000/75 Mbps tier offers decent download speeds, it’s only available to 6.7% of the city, and the asymmetric speeds and fixed wireless technology can’t match the reliability and low latency of fiber options from AT&T or Frontier. If Verizon is available at your address, check whether AT&T fiber or Spectrum cable are also options, as both will likely deliver more consistent performance for gaming, video calls, and uploading content.
About Verizon
Verizon covers 71% of Arlington but only offers Licensed Fixed Wireless service, which can have reliability issues compared to fiber or cable. Their most widely available plan (300/20 Mbps covering 64% of the area) offers decent speeds for basic use, but the upload speeds are quite limited. I’d recommend checking if fiber or cable providers are available at your address first, as they’ll typically offer more reliable service and better speeds for streaming, video calls, and working from home.

THE TAKEAWAY
Our recommendation for Arlington
NOVOS FiBER offers excellent 2500 Mbps symmetrical fiber service with a strong 94/100 speed score, making it a top-tier choice well above Arlington’s average score of 69. However, availability is severely limited at just 5.4% of the city, so most Arlington residents won’t have access. If NOVOS FiBER is available at your address, it’s an outstanding option, but you’ll likely need to consider alternatives like AT&T (the top-rated provider at 98) which has broader coverage across Arlington.
About NOVOS FiBER
NOVOS FiBER offers excellent fiber internet with blazing-fast 2500 Mbps symmetrical speeds that rank in the top tier statewide (Speed Score: 94/100), but they’re only available in a very small portion of Arlington (5.4% coverage). If NOVOS FiBER is available at your address, it’s an outstanding choice for households with heavy internet usage, multiple users, or anyone who works from home. However, since coverage is quite limited, you’ll want to confirm availability at your specific address and explore other providers if NOVOS isn’t an option for you.

Starlink’s satellite service offers 220 Mbps download speeds with 100% coverage in Arlington, but its speed score of 64 falls below the city average of 69, and it significantly trails top providers like AT&T (score: 98). With 3 fiber providers and 1 cable provider available in Arlington, you should check if AT&T fiber or other wired options are available at your address first, as they’ll deliver better performance and lower latency. Starlink works best as a backup option or for addresses where traditional wired internet isn’t available, but satellite technology inherently comes with higher latency that can affect video calls and gaming.
About Starlink
Starlink offers 100% coverage across Arlington with satellite internet reaching 220 Mbps download speeds, which scores below average (64/100) compared to other options in the state. While this satellite service can handle most online activities, it comes with typical satellite limitations like higher latency and weather sensitivity that make it less ideal for gaming or video calls. Before choosing Starlink, check if faster fiber or cable options are available at your address, as those technologies would provide more reliable performance for similar or better prices.

Nextlink’s fixed wireless service in Arlington reaches less than 8% of the city with speeds topping out at 500/100 Mbps (speed score: 77), which falls below the market average and significantly trails fiber options like AT&T (score: 98). While fixed wireless can work for basic internet needs, it’s generally less reliable than fiber or cable due to potential weather interference and latency issues. If you’re in one of the limited areas where Nextlink is available, check first for AT&T fiber or cable alternatives, as these technologies will provide more consistent performance for streaming, gaming, and video calls.
About Nextlink
Nextlink offers fixed wireless internet to a limited 7.8% of Arlington, with their best plans delivering 500/100 Mbps speeds that score in the good-to-excellent range (76-77/100). While fixed wireless can be adequate for most households, it’s generally less reliable than fiber or cable options, so if you’re in their coverage area, you’ll want to verify the service quality at your specific address and compare with any fiber or cable providers available to you first.

Our recommendation for Arlington
T-Mobile’s fixed wireless service in Arlington falls significantly short of the market standard, with their best plan scoring just 51/100 compared to the city average of 69 and top-rated AT&T’s score of 98. With only 21.3% of the city able to access their faster 100/20 Mbps tier and nearly half limited to a basic 25/3 Mbps connection, you’re better off checking AT&T’s fiber or other cable/fiber providers first. Fixed wireless technology is inherently less reliable than wired connections and these speeds won’t adequately support multiple users or modern streaming needs in most households.
About T-Mobile
T-Mobile offers Licensed Fixed Wireless service to 87.6% of Arlington, but with below-average speeds that may struggle with modern internet needs. Their fastest plan (100↓/20↑ Mbps) only reaches about 21% of the area and scores just 51/100 for speed in the state, while their more widely available 25↓/3↑ Mbps plan is quite slow for households with multiple users or streaming needs. You’ll want to check if faster cable or fiber providers serve your address first, as T-Mobile’s wireless options should mainly be considered as a backup choice.

Viasat’s satellite internet in Arlington should be considered only as a last resort, with speeds of 150/3 Mbps earning a speed score of just 38—well below the city average of 69. With AT&T fiber (score: 98) and multiple other providers available covering Arlington, you’ll find significantly better performance and lower latency with nearly any alternative option. Satellite internet’s inherent high latency makes it problematic for video calls, gaming, and real-time applications that work smoothly on fiber or cable connections.
About Viasat Inc
Viasat Inc offers satellite internet with 150 Mbps download speeds across 100% of Arlington, but with a speed score of only 38/100, it ranks well below average for the state. Satellite internet typically comes with high latency and data caps that can make it challenging for video calls, gaming, or streaming. Before choosing Viasat, you should definitely check if faster options like fiber or cable are available at your specific address, as those would provide a much better experience for modern internet needs.

Our recommendation for Arlington
HughesNet satellite service reaches 100% of Arlington but with a speed score of just 28/100 and speeds of 100/5 Mbps, it significantly underperforms the market average of 69. With AT&T fiber (score: 98) and multiple other providers offering superior fiber and cable options in Arlington, HughesNet should only be considered as a last resort for addresses where no other provider offers service. Satellite internet’s high latency makes it poorly suited for video calls, gaming, and other real-time applications that work well on the fiber and cable networks widely available throughout Arlington.
About HughesNet
HughesNet offers satellite internet to 100% of Arlington, but with a speed score of just 28/100 and the inherent limitations of satellite technology (high latency, data caps), it should really only be considered as a last resort. Satellite internet struggles with video calls, gaming, and streaming due to signal delay, so you’ll definitely want to check if faster cable, fiber, or even fixed wireless options are available at your address first. Only go with HughesNet if you’ve confirmed that absolutely no other providers service your specific location.

Provider coverage shows what percentage of census blocks in Arlington report service availability from each provider.
Data Coverage for Arlington
How We Calculate Speed Score
Our Speed Score is a state-level percentile ranking (0-100) that shows how a provider’s service compares to all other internet options available in your state.
The Formula:
We calculate a raw performance score using:
Technology Factor × (Download Speed × 70% + Upload Speed × 30%)
Technology Factors:
Not all connections are equal. We weight each technology based on real-world reliability and performance:
- Fiber: 100% – Fastest, most reliable technology
- Cable: 85% – High speeds, shared neighborhood bandwidth
- Fixed Wireless (Licensed): 70% – Dedicated spectrum, weather-dependent
- Copper/DSL: 65% – Distance-limited, aging infrastructure
- Fixed Wireless (Unlicensed): 60% – Shared spectrum, variable performance
- Satellite (LEO): 40% – Low-earth orbit (e.g., Starlink), higher latency
- Satellite (GEO): 15% – Geostationary orbit, significant latency
Percentile Ranking:
After calculating raw scores, we rank every service option in your state by geographic coverage (census blocks served). A score of 85 means this service performs better than 85% of all internet options available in your state.
Data Source: FCC National Broadband Map data, updated quarterly.
How We Calculate Capabilities
Estimated Capabilities predict how well each internet plan supports common household activities based on speed requirements and connection type.
Rating Scale:
- Excellent – Optimal performance, handles peak usage easily
- Good – Reliable performance with minimal issues
- Fair – Functional but may experience slowdowns during heavy use
- Poor – Not recommended; expect frequent buffering or lag
How We Rate Each Category:
Streaming
Based on download speed. 4K streaming requires 25+ Mbps per stream; HD requires 5+ Mbps. We account for multiple simultaneous streams.
Multi-device
Evaluates total bandwidth capacity divided by typical household device count (phones, tablets, smart TVs, computers). Fiber and cable handle many devices better than DSL or satellite.
Gaming
Considers both upload speed (for sending game data) and latency (ping time). Fiber and cable excel here; satellite connections struggle due to inherent signal delay.
Whole Home
Assesses whether the connection can reliably serve an entire household during peak evening hours. Factors in technology type (shared vs. dedicated bandwidth) and total speed capacity.
Note: Actual performance depends on your specific location, network congestion, and equipment quality.
