Spectrum is the best overall, with cable speeds up to 1,000 Mbps reaching about 56% of the city, and an overall footprint of about 60%. AT&T is the faster choice if it reaches your address, with fiber speeds up to 5,000/5,000 Mbps reaching about 7% of the city.

In Brook Village, Vexus Fiber leads 76302 at about 61%, while 76307 favors Vexus at about 43% and Comcell at about 38%, showing how strongly fiber clusters by neighborhood. Around Midwestern State University in 76308, AT&T fiber reaches about 49%, but students should verify apartment-level service for reliable Zoom, streaming, and gaming. ZIP 76305 has NTT Fiber at about 29%, while Country Club has a notable AT&T fiber pocket at about 32%; options can shift again around Lake Wichita and Sheppard Air Force Base. Floral Heights is more competitive, with Vexus Fiber and Comcell each covering substantial portions of the ZIP, so address-level checking matters. Vernon College Century City Center students should also watch for older copper or DSL infrastructure in some buildings. Fixed wireless is worth comparing, including Verizon, T-Mobile, and Santa Rosa Telephone Coop, but coverage changes street to street, so confirm the exact address before choosing.

About Comcell

Fiber service offers excellent performance for streaming, gaming, video calls, and busy households, with speeds up to 1000 Mbps both ways in about 34% of Wichita Falls census blocks. The $59.99 Fiber 1 Gig plan is also an excellent choice, offering up to 1000 Mbps both ways with an 80/100 Speed Score. For $24.99 to $89.99 per month, Kinetic by Windstream offers excellent value where its fiber is available, with up to 100 Mbps, 300 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, or 2000 Mbps both ways. The fastest Fiber Max 2 Gig plan has a Speed Score of 93/100, but fiber reaches only about 2% of Wichita Falls, so availability is highly address-dependent and you should confirm your address before choosing it. Our recommendation for Wichita Falls

The strongest value here is up to 500 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload on fixed wireless, with a Speed Score of 76/100, above Wichita Falls’s average top-speed score of 59. Fixed wireless can be adequate but may be less consistent than wired service, and this plan reaches about 31% of the city, so check your address before choosing it and consider other available providers if it is not offered.

About Santa Rosa Telephone Coop, Inc.

At the quoted monthly price, Santa Rosa Telephone Coop offers good value where its fixed-wireless plan provides up to 500 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload, though that option reaches about 31% of Wichita Falls and availability is address-dependent. Other available plans drop to as little as 10 Mbps download, so check for the faster 500 Mbps or 250 Mbps options first, since the lower-speed choices may not be sufficient for busy households, streaming, or remote work.

Its 5G Home plan scores 66/100, above Wichita Falls’ city average of 59, making it a competitive option despite not reaching the top performance tier. Availability is address-dependent, with this plan reaching about 49% of the city, so check your address and compare other available technologies if reliability or lower latency is important.

Speeds and reach below are what the provider files with the FCC for each technology tier, by census block. The plans it actually sells here, with their own speeds and prices, are under Pricing & Plans; the two can differ.

Its Lbr Fixed Wireless plan offers up to 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, with a Speed Score of 18/100 and coverage of 14.0% of Wichita Falls. At the quoted monthly price, AMA TechTel Communications offers limited value here, with plans reaching up to 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload or up to 75 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, both below-average options with Speed Scores of 18 and 17. THE TAKEAWAY

Our recommendation for Wichita Falls

At $94.99/mo for the first 12 months, then $119.99/mo, HughesNet Fusion buys up to 100 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, but its 18/100 Speed Score is below the Wichita Falls average of 59. As a satellite plan, it has more limited performance and higher latency than many wired alternatives, so check what other technologies reach your address before choosing it; Fusion is available to 100.0% of the city.

Speeds and reach below are what the provider files with the FCC for each technology tier, by census block. The plans it actually sells here, with their own speeds and prices, are under Pricing & Plans; the two can differ.

About HughesNet

HughesNet costs $39.99 to $94.99 per month for the first 12 months, then $49.99 to $119.99, but that price buys satellite service with speeds of up to 25 to 100 Mbps down and 3 to 5 Mbps up, which is below average and may feel limited for modern household use. It can be a useful option where faster internet is unavailable, but since all of these plans are satellite and available to 100% of Wichita Falls, check your address for fiber or cable first, because those technologies are generally better for streaming, gaming, video calls, and multiple users.

THE TAKEAWAY

Our recommendation for Wichita Falls

Because satellite service can vary in real-world performance and latency, check what other providers are available at your specific address before choosing.

About Viasat Inc

How We Analyze Internet in Wichita Falls

FCC Broadband Data

We use the FCC National Broadband Map, updated twice a year with provider-reported coverage at the census block level.

Speed Score

A state-wide percentile of each plan’s maximum advertised download speed against every option filed with the FCC in the state, all technologies on one scale. It is not a measured speed test.

Coverage Calculation

Provider coverage shows what percentage of census blocks in Wichita Falls report service availability from each provider.

Data Coverage for Wichita Falls

ZIP Codes Analyzed:
7630176302763057630676307763087630976310
Census Tracts: 44 tracts
Census Blocks: 3,477 blocks analyzed

How We Calculate Speed Score

The Speed Score is a state-wide percentile from 0 to 100. It answers one question: of every internet option filed with the FCC in this state, across every technology, what share is slower than this plan’s maximum advertised download speed?

What goes in:

  • The plan’s maximum advertised download speed, as the provider files it with the FCC and lists it for sale.
  • Every other serviceable option in the state from the FCC Broadband Data Collection, counted by the census blocks it reaches.

Speed Score = share of the state’s filed options with a lower advertised download speed

A score of 85 means this plan’s advertised speed beats 85% of the options filed in the state. Fiber, cable, DSL, fixed wireless and satellite are all on the same scale, so a 1,000 Mbps plan scores the same whoever sells it.

What it is not: a measured speed test. It does not include latency, upload speed, reliability or congestion. Real throughput at an address varies with wiring, equipment and time of day.

How providers are ordered on this page: each provider’s tier scores are averaged across the census blocks it serves, then multiplied by the share of the city it reaches. Wired providers rank ahead of wireless-only ones, and satellite last, because their filings describe a signal footprint rather than a plant. The same rule sets the title and the 30-second verdict.

Data source: FCC National Broadband Map (Broadband Data Collection), republished roughly twice a year; provider plan lists checked monthly.

How We Calculate Capabilities

Estimated Capabilities predict how well each internet plan supports common household activities based on speed requirements and connection type.

Rating Scale:

  • Excellent – Optimal performance, handles peak usage easily
  • Good – Reliable performance with minimal issues
  • Fair – Functional but may experience slowdowns during heavy use
  • Poor – Not recommended; expect frequent buffering or lag

How We Rate Each Category:

Streaming

Based on download speed. 4K streaming requires 25+ Mbps per stream; HD requires 5+ Mbps. We account for multiple simultaneous streams.

Multi-device

Evaluates total bandwidth capacity divided by typical household device count (phones, tablets, smart TVs, computers). Fiber and cable handle many devices better than DSL or satellite.

Gaming

Considers both upload speed (for sending game data) and latency (ping time). Fiber and cable excel here; satellite connections struggle due to inherent signal delay.

Whole Home

Assesses whether the connection can reliably serve an entire household during peak evening hours. Factors in technology type (shared vs. dedicated bandwidth) and total speed capacity.

Note: Actual performance depends on your specific location, network congestion, and equipment quality.
